Beethoven - A Force of Nature

Here is the completed pastel. There may still be some tweaking done if I notice anything but for all intents and purposes this one should be done. I tried to convey some of the imagery present in his Pastorale Symphony, the brook, peaceful surroundings, the storm, and the celebrating farmers after the end of the storm. Beethoven was a stormy person from what we know so this piece also reflects some of the contrast and tumult that is present in a lot of his music. 17" x 23.5" on Canson Mi-Teintes pastel paper.

Here is an iPad shot of the larger pastel in progress. I decided to add some elements to the background to tie in with his pastoral symphony as that is one of my my favourites of his. I enlarged a photocopy of the reference image of Beethoven and close cropped it and placed it in on top of the pastel to get an idea of how it will look. The cut out portion is the head and the "kerchief" portion of his coat, not sure what you call that part.
